Camera guy in water

Viennese water

What you do for a good image. In this case, we were in Vienna. It was, unlike Cologne, warm like in the summer. With our trousers on Steve Urkel height I went into the cool water.

In general this shoot was rather varied. There was good, even very good food everywhere we went. Of course we had Viennese food (I also tried the Wiener Schnitzel from my coworker and approved). In addition, during the break before another shoot, we had a one-hour stay in the wok house, an Asian grill, where we thought: let’s just add three euros and then have much more instead of a menu! That was also delicious, and we’ve overeaten ourselves mercilessly.

The only thing that was annoying during the production was the driving from Cologne to Vienna and back, especially since we drove back on Sunday and it was the end of holidays in several federal states. So we got to see the full anarchy on the streets. Luckily we were able to avoid the two worst traffic jams via country roads. Fun Fact: The A3 leads from Cologne directly to Austria. That means you drive more than 700 km on one and the same road, always straight ahead…

One unicorn to finish:

A road trip through the north

At the beginning of June we started on a road trip through northern Germany and Denmark. Here is a short report of what we experienced.

Day 1:

After a drive of several hours (with long traffic jams) we reach our destination for this day: Villa Leda, a large villa with a city garden, which has been converted into a beautiful Bed & Breakfast by its Dutch owners.

In the evening we will walk through Leer to eat traditional fish in a traditional restaurant to celebrate the beginning of our journey in Northern Germany. But we spontaneously decide to go to the Gasthof zur Leda and eat tapas there. It tasted very good! Read More

Bikini Safety

Air New Zealand Safety Video – Bikini Edition

The New Zealand airline Air New Zealand knows how to get attention with the normally boring safety videos. The best known will probably be the Middle Earth video, in which all kinds of characters from the Lord of the Rings trilogy explain the rules of conduct on the plane to the viewer. The one in which Bear Grylls, the survival artist, demonstrates the safety instructions is also anything but normal.

However, one of the more recent videos called Safety in Paradise upset some people so much, that a petition was launched which was signed by nearly 11,000 people. It argues with the sexualization of the female body. Air New Zealand opposes the scene being set on a beach, arguing that it is “absolutely appropriate for women to wear bikinis,” writes the New Zealand Herald. It would be interesting to know how many people deliberately did not sign the petition or would sign a counter-petition.

Anyway, the videos are so entertaining that I watched them here. In front of the computer. On the ground. Far away from the next New Zealand flight.

Amsterdam at night

Chinamsterdam

Amsterdam at nightOver the weekend of my birthday earlier this year we went to Amsterdam (my birthday present). At the evening of our arrival we checked into a hotel where every room is different. One of the many design hotels in town. We got a room under the roof on the 5th floor. When we opened the door we were standing in the open shower. The next room was the bedroom, which was dimly lit by a strange looking metal ball hanging lamp. The impression of this hotel room can be accurately described as “interesting”. In any case it was cosy and offered a great view out of the window. Read More
